    Seven Training Tools for Law Enforcement Ethics

    The study focused on ethics training for law enforcement. Preliminary
    research identified seven general categories of training tools and
    methods used to teach ethics to law enforcement officers.

    BOOKS AND PUBLICATIONS
    Books and publications are frequently used to provide information to students of ethics. For listings of

    Case studies of actual or hypothetical ethical issues are another tool for ethics instructors. A

    Decision making tools include the processes recommended for reaching a conclusion. Decision
    making tools are often taught by law enforcement ethics instructors. They provide learners with step-by-
